Palmetto Dunes Club (Fazio)

The George Fazio Course is one of three championship golf courses at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. A challenging par-70 layout, it is known for a series of long par-4s and a demanding test of skill. Course features and design Designer: The course was designed by George Fazio, uncle of renowned architect Tom Fazio. George Fazio was a former PGA Tour professional who played in seven Masters tournaments before becoming a course designer. Challenging layout: The course is regarded by many as the most challenging public course on Hilton Head Island. At nearly 7,000 yards from the longest tees and with only two par-5s, its length and difficulty come from a string of demanding par-4s. Water and bunkers: Golfers will face bunkers and water hazards on every hole. The strategic placement of bunkers, along with water, requires careful club selection and precision. Signature hole: The course's signature hole is the 16th, a long par-4 flanked by sand and water. The 18th hole is also notable, and was part of a playoff between George Fazio, Ben Hogan, and Lloyd Mangrum in 1950.
