Pine Lakes Country Club, affectionately known as “The Granddaddy,” is the oldest golf course along the Grand Strand, with its first tee-off dating back to 1927. Following a three-year, $20+ million renovation completed in 2009 and a more recent restoration in 2021 led by architect Craig Schreiner, the course offers a seamless blend of historical charm and modern playability. Updates included larger, smoother Sunday bermudagrass greens and revamped greenside bunkers with native grasses, enhancing both aesthetics and challenge. Centrally located between 48th and 62nd avenues, Pine Lakes is a cherished landmark at the heart of Myrtle Beach golf. The 6,675-yard, par-70 course is home to some of Myrtle Beach’s most unforgettable holes. Its signature hole, the fourteenth, a 438-yard par 4, provides a stunning downhill tee shot bordered by trees and opening to a forgiving fairway with Myrtle Beach’s skyline as a backdrop. The uphill approach to a well-bunkered green over water adds difficulty, demanding precise skill from every player. Another highlight is the par-3 11th hole, a short yet formidable challenge with a green that slopes sharply from back to front, adding suspense to a shot over water.
